BMKG Forecasts Jakarta to be Sunny Today with World’s Worst Air Quality

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted that all of Jakarta will be sunny today, Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

In the morning, the entire Jakarta area will be sunny with partly cloudy. This weather persists during the day in West Jakarta, South Jakarta and East Jakarta. While North Jakarta, Central Jakarta and the Seribu Islands (Thousand Islands) will be sunny.

In the evening, West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta are forecasted to be cloudy. Central Jakarta and North Jakarta will be partly cloudy, while the Seribu Islands will still be sunny.

The temperature in Jakarta today ranges from 24 to 33 degrees Celsius with air humidity level at 55-90 percent.

Meanwhile, according to IQAir, the air quality in Jakarta this morning at 05:00 a.m. is at an unhealthy level. The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Jakarta reached 160 with the main pollutant concentration PM2.5 at 72 micrograms per meter cubic. 

The number made Jakarta have the world’s worst air quality followed by Johannesburg, South Africa (152), Beijing, China (152), Santiago, Chile (131), and Lahore, Pakistan (112).

Meanwhile, the weather in Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi is also sunny all day. The temperature ranges from 23 to 34 degrees Celsius with the air humidity level at 50-95 percent.
